Tricky Trip-Hops Across Atlantic On U.S. Tour
Trip-hop innovator Tricky, who recently cancelled a European road trip due to a bout with a fungal infection, plans to revive his tour by taking his live show across the Atlantic once again, on a musical journey across North America.
The upcoming tour, which runs 25 dates, kicks off Nov. 5 at the House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and travels up the East Coast before taking off across the Midwest and wrapping things up at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif., on Dec. 9. Tricky is touring in support of his latest venture into the darker corners of trip-hop, Angels With Dirty Faces.
While European fans of the artist responsible for such brooding trip-hop songs as "Broken Home" and Black Steel" (RealAudio excerpt) will have to wait to see Tricky live, American fans will get their chance to see him in concert for the second time this year.
The British artist (born Adrian Thawes) canceled a 21-date European tour in late September, citing a bout with the fungal infection Candida. Though the condition was not said to be life-threatening, he was ordered by doctors to rest for six weeks.
"It's a shame. I was looking forward to playing my music to the fans in Europe," Tricky said in a prepared statement announcing the cancellation of the tour, which was slated to last from Sept. 30 to Oct. 28.
Earlier this year, Tricky played a 17-date U.S. club-tour, which included stops in such major cities as New York, San Francisco, Chicago and New Orleans.
Joining Tricky on this latest tour -- starting at the Nov. 7 date at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, S.C. -- will be eccentric pop-band Whale. Perhaps best known for its 1995 hit, "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe," the Swedish trio will be joining the tour after traveling through the U.S. in October on a 12-date club tour of its own.
Whale will be touring in support of their latest, All Disco Dance Must End In Broken Bones.
