Merchant Sings For AIDS Benefit
Red Hot + Rhapsody, the latest album from the Red Hot Organization benefiting
AIDS relief, is scheduled for release Oct. 6. The album features such contemporary
artists as former 10,000 Maniacs singer Natalie Merchant, trip-hoppers
Morcheeba, alternative-funkers Luscious Jackson, Irish chanteuse
Sinéad O'Connor and crooner Duncan Sheik, covering the
songs of American songwriter George Gershwin. A one-off promotional concert
to celebrate the release of the album -- featuring Merchant, Sheik, Morcheeba and
rappers the Roots -- is also scheduled for the day of release in New York City.
