Australian post-punk singer/songwriter Nick Cave has contributed

a foreword to a pocket edition of the Bible that will be published in October

by Edinburgh, Scotland's Canongate Press. Cave contributed an essay on

the Gospel according to St. Mark, said Bill Bentley of Reprise

Records. Cave frequently writes about Christianity -- though he is not a

practicing Christian -- in Witness, the magazine of his fan club.

Cave and his band, the Bad Seeds, are scheduled to play the

annual Liss Ard Festival in Ireland on Sept. 4 and New York City's

Beacon Theater on Sept. 8.
