Drake’s ‘One Dance’ Becomes First Song To Hit 1 Billion Streams On Spotify

Drizzy smashes yet another record

If it feels like you’ve heard Drake’s “One Dance” a million times over the past year, it’s because you probably have. According to Billboard, the smash Views single has just become the first song to hit 1 billion plays on Spotify. Yes, that’s billion, with a B.

The Wizkid- and Kyla-featuring record became the most-played song ever on the streaming platform back in October, when it dethroned Major Lazer’s “Lean On.” Now, it’s currently at a whopping 1.001 billion streams, Billboard reports. Even more impressively, the song’s only been online since April, meaning it racked up those billion streams in less than nine months.

“One Dance” also ruled the Hot 100 chart for 10 consecutive weeks, and helped Drake become the most streamed artist on Spotify this year. Interestingly, the song was recently snubbed by the Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, but no matter — Views was recently certified quadruple platinum in the U.S., and the album earned him eight Grammy nominations. Not a bad way to roll into the new year.
