Roots pianist Bruce Hornsby will break his three-year recording

silence with a two-CD set entitled Spirit Trail in mid-September.

The 20-track double-CD was co-produced by Hornsby and recorded in his

Virginia studio with help from Canadian violinist Ashley MacIsaac

and drummer Matt Chamberlin (Fiona Apple, Tori Amos).

The album is described in a press release as "very much a Southern record,

organic and earthy, with gospel, blues, folk and New Orleans grooves being

the primary influences."
