Nearly a year after separating from [article id="1637951"]Oscar winner Sandra Bullock[/article], Jesse James announced that he's engaged to fellow reality star Kat Von D.

"You know sometimes the public and press gets it wrong. This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs," James told People.com. "I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day. My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said 'yes.' Growing old with her is going to be a f---in' blast!"

The couple began dating last summer shortly after his [article id="1642556"]divorce from Bullock[/article] was finalized in June.

"There is no one else for me. He's the one," Von D said.

The pair currently reside in different cities (she's in L.A., he's in Austin) and are working out their plans for the future. "Having two places we call home will be good for now," she explained. "In the end, home is where the heart is, and my heart's with him."

James made headlines last year when it was reported shortly after Bullock's Oscar win that he had cheated on her. He later [article id="1634234"]apologized[/article] to the star in a statement. "There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me," he said. "It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way. This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
