For the fourth straight week since it's release,
Metallica's Load has topped the Billboard Top 200 album chart.
According to SoundScan, which tracks such things, Load sold a healthy
172,000 copies during the past week. Meanwhile, Pollstar, which keeps taps on
the concert business, reports that the biggest tours during the first half of
'96 were by Rod Stewart, Bob Seger and Garth Brooks. Now is that depressing or
what? Stewart grossed $29.1 million from 65 shows in 62 cities, while Seger
collected $26.3 million from 64 shows in 58 cities. Not bad for a couple of
has-beens living off their former glory.
