John Mayer’s Looking Forward To Some New Music And ‘Love On The Weekend’

Tfw it’s Friday and you’re dropping your first new music in two years

Your earbuds are a wonderland, or will be on November 17: That’s when John Mayer is making his return to music by dropping his first new project in about three years.

Mayer posted a vague note about “Love on the Weekend” to his Instagram account, along with a date — November 17 — which indicates that we’ll finally have something to follow up 2013’s Paradise Valley.

Is it a video? Is it a single? Is it an album? Is it a slow-jam collaboration with The Weeknd that involves super-high vocals and super-intense guitar-gasm faces? We have no idea, but we’re looking forward to finding out.

All has been quiet on the Mayer front, as his last release was technically a Beyoncé cover with 2014’s “XO.” He’s spent time touring and filling Jerry Garcia’s spot onstage with Dead and Company, so we’re long overdue for Mayer tuneage, and it looks like he feels the same.
