Zac Efron broke free from Disney Channel long ago, but High School Musical heartthrob Troy Bolton lives on in the hearts of fans. So when Efron posted a video of himself playing piano and singing Monday night (November 7), it felt like a warm hello from the Wildcats.

“Happy birthday to one hell of a sexy dude,” Efron croons in the bluesy song he made up.

The serenade was dedicated to his Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates co-star Adam DeVine on his 33rd birthday. Efron also plays piano in that movie and will soon star in another musical, The Greatest Showman, with Hugh Jackman and fellow Disney Channel alumna Zendaya.

“You're the best, the best, the coolest fucking dude. Yeah, you're funky fresh,” Efron ends the impromptu tune, which made Devine feel “like the prettiest girl in school.”

“That's how you should feel every day,” Efron joked back. Like Troy, he knows how to make any girl or guy feel extra special.
