The 'Mean Girls' Musical Is Actually, Finally, Freaking Happening Next Year

This is the best National ‘Mean Girls’ Day ever

Get ready to shout, “That is so fetch,” because the Mean Girls musical is totally, completely, most definitely happening next year. The long-awaited stage adaptation of Tina Fey's 2004 hit announced the show's premiere will take place in Washington, D.C. in fall 2017. Honestly, it's about damn time.

This musical's been drawn-out for what seems like centuries, but we're thrilled to see light at the end of the tunnel – and on National Mean Girls Day, no less! The show comes from a collaboration between Fey's husband and composer Jeff Richmond and Broadway's Legally Blonde lyricist Nell Benjamin. Of course, we don't know which theatre it'll be in, nor who's in the cast, but details, details — we've waited this long for information, a little longer won't kill us. (Raise your hand if you've ever felt personally victimized by the Mean Girls musical.)

The official Mean Girls Facebook page also confirmed the exciting news and shared the musical's verified Twitter and Instagram handles to keep up with coverage.
