Jamie Lynn Spears Embraces Motherhood And Femininity On New Song ‘Sleepover’

The younger Spears singer is back

Jamie Lynn Spears is proving she's so much more than the child actress who went from the star of Dan Schneider's show Zoey 101 to an IRL teen mom. On Friday (June 24), the 25-year-old singer and actress (and mother of 8-year-old Maddie) released her new single, "Sleepover," which pairs nicely with her new TLC special, Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out, premiering this Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.

Now proudly living in Louisiana, Spears recently explained to cosmo.com that she didn't initially set out to sing country music, but that "it was where my voice sounded the best and my stories resonated with a country music crowd."

The song "Sleepover," Spears claimed, helped her realize that being someone's wife and/or mother is not mutually exclusive from being "confident, sexy, and flirty." The last time Spears released music was for her EP The Journey in 2014 — so we've been long overdue for more tunes from the young artist.

You can listen to "Sleepover" on Spotify, iTunes, and Google Play.
