UPDATE (5/13/16, 11:10 a.m. ET): In a strange turn of events, Variety has now reported that Lady Gaga will not be playing English singer Cilla Black in the Dionne Warwick biopic, despite the publication's earlier report that she would. Hollywood is confusing like that. Destiny's Child OG LeToya Luckett is still attached to star.

Lady Gaga's career transformation from meat-dress-wearing pop star to Golden Globe–winning actress has been full of surprises. Her latest move is no exception.

Gaga is set to play British icon Cilla Black in a biopic about R&B and pop music legend Dionne Warwick, reports Variety. Black was Warwick's long-standing "musical nemesis" after Black's version of "Anyone Who Had a Heart" eclipsed Warwick's original. Warwick will be played by original Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett.

The biopic was announced at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival on Friday morning. Asked why she regarded Black as her nemesis, Warwick said it was "because she stole my music."

Oh.

The biopic, based on Warwick's autobiography, will cover an early period in her career in the 1960s. Olympia Dukakis and Danny Glover will also appear in the film, which is tentatively being called Dionne.
