NYPD Asks For Help From The Rap Industry To Solve Chinx's Murder

And update its investigation

It's been almost a year since Chinx was shot and killed in his native Queens, New York, but the rapper's murder remains unsolved. Hoping to change that, two NYPD detective who are working on the case recently pleaded for public and rapper cooperation and revealed new details about the night of the shooting.

"I wouldn't call it a setup, but was he a target? Yes," Lt. Richard Rudolph told Fox 5 News. He said that the incident was not, as first reported, a drive-by shooting; instead, Chinx's car was approached and shot at on Main Street.

"We believe our shooter walked up and fired into that car," he said.

The detectives, who also revealed still images from a nearby scene shortly before the shooting, said they're trying to crack the case but are having trouble getting help.

"Nobody who knows anything about this murder, specifically, is cooperating with the police at this time," Rudolph said. Lt. Louron Hall added, "Individuals in the rap industry, we really need those people to come forward to assist us."
