Hahaha, Kelsey Grammer is Joining 'The Expendables 3'

Um, has Kelsey Grammer convinced everybody he's some kind of action star now or something? Seriously, did we miss that memo, Hollywood?

'Cause according to Deadline, he's now joined the cast of "The Expendables 3," a shoot-'em-up-bang-banger purposefully stuffed with pretty much all the muscular man meat — or, as the first installment coined to it, "the only men you're allowed to love" — the genre has had to offer over the past four decades.

Thing is, though, while Sylvester Stallone was "Rambo"-ing it up and Arnold Schwarzenegger was coming back from the future as "The Terminator," Grammer was still working his way into the "Cheers" crowd as the stuffy shrink-slash-radio personality who buzzed into the bar every once in a while.

Sure, he's since put a villainy spin on his image by way "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and that pay cable show "Boss," but is it enough to justify him taking over for Mr. Misunderstood himself Nicolas Cage? Apparently so, at least where Sly Stallone & Co. are concerned.

Grammer, who was also surprisingly plucked by Michael Bay to baddie it up for "Transformers: Age of Extinction," will take the role originally expected for Cage as an ex-mercenary type who gets in with the Expendables and their latest rabble-rousing endeavor.

Cage out; Grammer in. Whodathunkit, right?

Well, it's worth noting that Kelsey Grammer did sort of gain an "in" with Stallone when the two worked together in "Reach Me," the little passion project that brought Sly himself into the Kickstarter crowd. So, that might've just had something to do with it, but who knows.

Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Wesley Snipes, Jet Li, Ronda Rousey, Randy Couture, Kellan Lutz and Victor Ortiz all star alongside Stallone and Schwarzenegger in the third round of hit squad adventuring, which hits theaters on Aug. 15, 2014.
