'Diana' International Trailer: Caught in a Bad Romance

Known as "The People's Princess," Princess Diana of Wales was at one point the most famous woman in the world. But like any celebrity, she suffered the drawbacks of fame and invasions into her private life — all of which are addressed in "Diana", the upcoming biopic about the late royal. Becker Film Group has just released the full-length international trailer for the film, a follow-up to the teaser trailer that premiered in June.

Unlike the teaser, which basically told us next to nothing about the movie except how great Naomi Watts is at making Bambi eyes, this full trailer features somewhat of a storyline and introduces us to the other characters in the film. (Sayid, is that you???) Judging from the video, it seems like we can expect some tears, some smiles, and a whole lotta romance from the flick, which has already garnered Oscar buzz for star Naomi Watts… Not surprising for the two-time nominee.

"Diana" follows the iconic Princess during the last two years of her life, focusing especially on her secret relationship with British-Pakistani heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Khan ("Lost's" Naveen Andrews). The performances will no doubt be impressive, but we can also see the film being a little too melodramatic or Lifetime movie-ish.

The studio has still yet to announce a U.S. release date, so we'll have to settle for this two-minute montage for the time being.
