Hot Wheels: Check Out Bumblebee's 'Transformers 4' Tune-Up

UPDATE (May 31, 2013): Optimus Schmoptimus! Now, here's the movie muscle machine we really wanted to get a look at.

Presenting the new Bumblebee, "a highly modified, vintage 1967 Camaro SS." In black and yellow, because obviously. (You know what it is.)

"Transformers 4" director Michael Bay had previously shelled out vehicle images for Optimus Prime and some of his little Autobot pals, but he waited to dole out this blockbuster-bound beauty 'til last, and we can definitely see why. It's far and away the sickest ride on the "T4" lot.

We bet it even floats like a butterfly.

For those keeping count, the Camaro has always been the Bumblebee brand of choice for the film franchise, but the last time it was such a vintage model, it was pretty much just busted and got made fun of right there in the movie.

This new version is much more like it, don'tcha think?

PREVIOUSLY (May 29, 2013): Waiiit a minute. Is "Transformers 4" a movie or just an over-budgeted car commercial of some sort?

On his website, director Michael Bay announced that filming has (sorta) begun on "Transformers 4" (complete with funny dude T.J. Miller cast in a sidekick role) in the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park and that he's ushered in an all-new line of muscly machines for us to ooh and aah over come June 27, 2014.

"As guests of the Navajo Nation, we took a convoy of brand new, re-envisioned and remodeled Autobots out for a spin down Highway 163 in Monument Valley near the border of Arizona and Utah," he blogged.

Which Autobots, you might ask? Why, none other than Optimus Prime and his closest pals.

Only, it's not the "boring" plain ole' Optimus you might've become accustomed to in prior "Transformers" film installments ...

... This thing's been suped way up. Per Bay — take note of the salesmanship in script — here's the "completely upgraded, custom-built Optimus Prime from Western Star (a subsidiary of Diamler Trucks North America)."

Can you spot the differences? A little extra flame and chrome action, perhaps?

Bay also revealed this green machine C7 Corvette Stingray ("based on Chevrolet's upcoming 2014 production car," he made sure to note) he'll use in the movie ...

... and this spiffy $2.4 million Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse. This bad girl's got 1,200 horsepower, and Bay thinks she's "classy."

Sexay rides fasho, but why all this fuss?

Must be some kinda guy thing ... or, as one might suspect, a joint commercial venture at Bay (heh).

"Transformers 4" stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicolas Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor, Kelsey Grammer, T.J. Miller and, er, whoever wins that Chinese reality TV show we suppose.
