Sooner rather than later, Britt Robertson won't be an unexpected secret anymore. She'll be a known, respected actress.

The CW starlet, best recognized for her work on "The Secret Circle" and "Life Unexpected," may be continuing along a high school path, but her turn on the big screen with "The First Time" proves that the 22-year-old is ready to graduate to the young Hollywood elite.

In the film, the North Carolina native plays Aubrey, a 16-year-old who meets a guy outside a party and finds an instant connection. Thankfully, Robertson also finds a solid connection with her co-star, "Teen Wolf"'s Dylan O'Brien, and together they manage to offer a special glimpse into the epicness a single weekend can bring, especially when it means falling in love for the first time.

Not unlike Aubrey herself, Robertson offers us a likeable frankness when describing that chemistry and the career she dreams of having. In fact, you'll never guess the actor she's idolizing most right now …

The chemistry in this movie between you and Dylan was so crucial to its success and turned out so well. Was that lucky or did you have to work at it?

We had a mutual friend in common – Holland Roden, who is also on "Teen Wolf," was my roommate – so we instantly had that in common and were able to tell funny stories about Holland. Just from the beginning, he was so open and so sweet, and I think because he hadn't been in the industry long, he was really personable and it didn't feel like an actor meeting an actor. It just kind of felt like we were hanging out and having a good time, and Jon [Kasdan, the director] was there and he liked both of us. It just felt really comfortable.

We had three weeks of rehearsal before we started shooting to get comfortable with one another and to hang out and get to know each other and hear stories. I think that was what really helped with the chemistry.

The movie certainly has its share of awkward moments – which was the most awkward to shoot?

All those things are so awkward – being young and trying to find your way. I don't know that there was anything that was particularly awkward. We always just had a fun time together.

It didn't actually make the cut, but there was one scene where I am in kind of a scandalous top and we called it the side boob top. We were always trying on the side boob top to make sure it wasn't too much or not enough side boob. I found that to be kind of awkward, like do we really have to talk about my side boob all the time? … It's not just general side boob, it's my specific side boob. So that was kind of awkward.

Did you have any moments like that on "Secret Circle" or "Life Unexpected," wearing things you weren't totally comfortable with?

Oh, yeah. With those shows, everything needed to be completely fitted. We were filming in Vancouver so I am always trying to stuff as many pairs of heat warmers and long johns under my jeans as possible. So I am constantly bulging out – ya know, my knee is lopsided and my calf is bigger than normal – so we had a lot of wardrobe malfunctions due to weather restrictions.

You've been playing high school characters for a long time now. Are you wishing you could graduate or are you milking your youthful looks for as long as you can?

Exactly, no, I love it. I am afraid to go out of the high school world in a way. I feel like I have finally honed in on this high school world and I am figuring it out so why not take advantage of it while people still buy me as a high schooler? The other thing is, I don't even think people would buy me as a 20-year-old. That's my biggest hiccup with trying to age in characters. There have been times where I have been playing a 16-year-old and people have been like, "She still looks 12." I'm like, "I'm 22. What do you mean I don't look 16?" So I'm comfortable just rocking my young body.

What would you be doing if you weren't acting?

Horseback riding. No, I don't know, I always say marine biology, but, realistically, that's never going to happen, so if I wasn't an actor I would probably be an agent or a casting director.

So you find that element of the movie making interesting?

Yeah, I just always wanted to sit in a casting session and see all of the train wrecks that come in. It's like "American Idol," you come in and see these awesome people and then the next person is laughable.

If you could guest judge any reality show, which one would you choose?

"X Factor." I really like Demi Lovato. I think she is really cool, and her laugh is infectious.

What did you buy with your first Hollywood paycheck?

I bought a car, but not just any car, I bought a Volvo which was the safest on the road at the time. It's not any more so I upgraded to the Mercedes.

Touché. What color?

It's like a blue-silver-teal. Teal is my favorite color so it's the closest thing they had to teal, but then again I don't really want to dive around a teal car – that's going to look ridiculous. So I got the closest thing that still looks sleek.

Do you have an acting inspiration, someone's career that you would love to have?

I just met Henry Winkler and I would love to be as happy as he is at the end of the day. I am on cloud nine, he made my day, I am probably going to think about him for the rest of the day. It's crazy.

I was doing this Sirius radio thing … and he was doing a promotion for his new kids' book, at Sirius. I met him in one of the green rooms and he was so sweet. I told him, "I am a huge fan of yours. I think you are amazing." He hugged me and came up and talked to me and gave me advice and was so compassionate and really sweet. Seems like he really enjoyed life. I was walking out going to the elevator and he ran out and calls my name and goes, "Brittany, I just wanted to say that it was really nice to meet you." And I was like, "Oh my God, it was so nice to meet you, too." So now I am going to go see his play – he has a play coming out soon.

Do you have a dream love interest?

Brad Pitt? No way! Gross! Logan Lerman – he is kind of dreamy in "Perks of Being a Wallflower." Maybe like I feel like I want it to be someone weird, like Justin Long.
