David Fincher Attempts to Kickstart 'The Goon'

For fans of animation, the coolest thing to hit theaters last year may just have been the groundbreaking title sequence from "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." The only thing wrong with it was that it was just too darn short.

Now, though, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" director David Fincher is teaming up with the animators behind the sequence, Tim Miller and Jeff Fowler, for a new Kickstarter campaign to create a feature-length animated epic based on the cult comic book "The Goon."

And all they need is your money.

Created by Eric Powell, "The Goon," which has been published by Dark Horse Comics since 1999, follows the adventures of a hulking gangster (that's The Goon) and his best buddy Franky as they battle zombies, squids, hobos, vampires and pretty much whatever else you can think of.

Miller and Fuller have been working behind the scenes for years, but now with Fincher on board, their efforts have gone into overdrive, as they try to raise the $400,000 necessary to create a story reel for the entire film.
