Sony wants to take on at least one more alien menace ... and break an old board game out of the closet.

The studio announced two surprises today, one mild and one considerable — the former being that there's going to be another "Men in Black," the latter being that there's now a "Jumanji" reboot in development.

The news comes via Columbia Pictures Chief Doug Belgrad's interview with The Hollywood Reporter as he looks to be enjoying the studio's best financial year in history thanks to the box office success of "The Amazing Spider-Man," "21 Jump Street" and "Men in Black 3."

Despite the fact that no one seemed to care one bit about "Men in Black 3," it managed to make a ton of money (as "MiB" movies are wont to do), and Belgrad assures us that we haven't seen the last of the series. "We believe it is an ongoing franchise," he says. "We're going to do [another one], but we don't have clarity yet on how it should be done."

More surprising was the fact that Sony is looking to bring us another "Jumanji." The original 1995 film starred Robin Williams as the grown-up version of a young boy who had been trapped inside the magical fantasy board game and with his escape comes a stampede of various animals (many of them very large and loud) crossing over into the real world — or, more specifically, into a family's house.

"We're going to try and reimagine 'Jumanji' and update it for the present," Belgrad revealed. Hmm ... maybe this time it's an Xbox Kinect game rather than a board game? That could prove to be a bit more interactive, for sure.
