Rooney Mara Adds Spike Jonze to Already Awesome Resume

Rooney Mara is going to where the wild things are.

The "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" herself has added Spike Jonze to the already impressive list of directors she's worked with as she's signed on to join the latest film from the man behind "Being John Malkovich," according to Variety.

Mara replaces Carey Mulligan, who was originally attached to the untitled project but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. She joins a cast that already includes Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton for the Jonze-penned story of a man who falls in love with a Siri-like computer voice.

Well, if you had to lose Carey Mulligan, Rooney Mara is one of very few acceptable consolation prizes. In fact, that's a completely fair trade if there ever was one.

Rooney Mara is certainly the darling of A-list directors lately. After her impressive turn as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," she's gone on to work with Steven Soderbergh in "The Bitter Pill," Terrence Malick in his latest untitled project (formerly referred to as "Lawless" before another movie snagged that title) and now Jonze, whose other feature directing credits include "Adaptation" and the wonderful "Where the Wild Things Are."

Production on Spike Jonze's latest will commence sometime this summer, with "The Bitter Pill" set to hit theaters on Feb. 8, 2013 and Terrence Malick's untitled film set to come out whenever he decides that it's done.
