Relativity Media and Atlas Entertainment Will Form 'Voltron'

"Form feet and legs! Form arms and body! And I'll form... the head!"

You can bet there was a lot of that going on at the offices of Relativity Media and Atlas Entertainment today as the two companies have merged to bring "Voltron" to the big screen.

We reported way back in March that a bidding war had commenced for the rights to the Defender of the Universe. That war has apparently come to an end, thanks to some swift sword action, no doubt.

"Voltron, Defender of the Universe" was a much-beloved '80s animated series chronicling the adventures of five human-piloted robotic lions (or sea, air and land vehicles, depending on which version you were watching) that merged into a giant super-robot (with a really sweet sword).

The live-action "Voltron" will, not unsurprisingly, be based on the version with the multi-colored lions, with the script being written by Thomas Dean Donnelly ("Conan the Barbarian") and Joshua Oppenheimer ("Sahara"). No director has been announced yet.

So... who will play the pilots of the Lion Force Voltron: Keith (Black Lion), Lance (Red Lion), Pidge (Green Lion) Sven (Blue Lion), Princess Allura (who replaced Sven after he was seriously injured) and Hunk (Yellow Lion)? Let the casting wishlist commence!

Look for "Voltron" sometime in 2014, which will mark the 30-year anniversary of the original animated series.
