'Catching Fire' Director Francis Lawrence on the 5 Key Elements of the 'Hunger Games' Sequel

the hunger games: catching fire

Over at MTV Movies, our pal Josh Horowitz sat down for a chat with "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" director Francis Lawrence to discuss the key things about the sequel to last year's YA sci-fi smash. One of the most anticipated films of the year, "Catching Fire" follows the adventures of dystopian teen archer Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she continues to hunt the cutest boys in her district, impale them with arrows, and then feed them to her adorable kid sister as part of a live-televised spectacle (ed. note: fact check?). "Catching Fire" promises to expand on the original in every way, a newfound sense of scale infusing this intimate and emotionally blunt story with the overwhelming feeling of an epic saga. In this video, Josh asks Mr. Lawrence (no relation to Jennifer... allegedly) about reimagining the film's new arena, moving the production from North Carolina to Hawaii, and using IMAX in a way that brings audiences right into the games themselves.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" hits theaters on Friday, November 22nd. Look for our review early next week.
