Last night (February 25) was American Idol's first live show of Season 15, and... well, to say that it debuted strong would be something of an understatement after Kelly Clarkson delivered such a heart-wrenching performance of her latest single, "Piece By Piece."

The bittersweet track narrates the contrasting relationships between Clarkson, her father, and her husband. The singer credits her husband for restoring her faith in men after the impact her absentee father had on her life.

"He never walks away / He never asks for money / He takes care of me / He loves me / Piece by piece he restored my faith / that a man can be kind and a father could stay."

It's no wonder everybody (judges included) started their waterworks.

Returning to the old performance stomping ground of American Idol also brought out another range of emotions within Clarkson -- especially when you consider that the show is coming to its close.

“I’m pregnant and it’s nostalgic and I can’t believe it’s the last season,” she told Ryan Seacrest and the audience. “Yeah, really sorry I just bawled.”
