Amber Heard May Be Lookin' At 'Aquaman'

Is this the Queen of Atlantis?

Love is in the ... water.

It looks like the King of the Seven Seas may have finally chosen his Queen, as Amber Heard is now reportedly in talks to star as Mera, Queen of Xebel and later Atlantis in Warner Bros.' DC Universe.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Mera will first make a splash in Warner Bros.' "Justice League," alongside Jason Momoa's Aquaman, and then she'll be featured more prominently in its "Aquaman" follow up.

Reactions to the potential casting news of Heard, who has no shortage of action fare in her filmography (see also, "Drive Angry," "Machete Kills"), as Mera have so far been fairly positive, albeit a bit shell-shocked.

For those who can't quite picture it just yet, however, this fan-made character poster has already floated to the surface.

All ye landlubbers who aren't familiar with Mera's talents should know that the former queen of the realm of Xebel has the ability to manipulate water on a grand scale and form objects. Not to mention, she spent a long period of time governing a colony of exiles and being trained for battle, so she's pretty badass and definitely should not be considered simply "Aquaman's wife" (harrumph).

"Justice League" -- which will also feature the Man of Steel Superman (Henry Cavill), Batfleck Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), among others -- is scheduled to drop on Nov. 17, 2017. "Aquaman" will follow along on July 27, 2018, with "Furious 7" director James Wan at the helm.
