Welcome to 2016, the year "Royals" turns three and Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor (aka Lorde) turns 20. Her birthday isn't until November, though, which means we have 11 months to sit through before we can properly gift her something big...OR DOES IT?

Over the weekend, Lorde took to Instagram to sort-of vent about one particular frustration: her lack of vacation time.

As that young girl stands with her back to the sea, gazing wistfully at the ship carrying her into the night, away from the world, or maybe deeper within it -- or deeper within herself? -- Lorde lets loose.

"when you scroll through your feed and all the pretty famous boys and girls are on yachts or in saint barth's and you're at home where it's raining and you've never even been on a holiday to another country before, never been to a tropical island let alone saint barth's and actually you aren't even sure if you're spelling saint barth's right"

It's January now, just after Christmas, and a lot of famous folks have taken their holiday to exotic locales. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are smooching in Anguilla; Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner have been spotted hanging in St. Bart(h)'s.

But Lorde wasn't shading them! Nah -- as she added to her Insta caption later on: "lol no 'shade' folks if i were on an island or in even nearish proximity to a yacht you would be hearing all the f--k about it just making fun of my own lameness"

We disagree with that last item. Lorde is certainly not lame. She's even got a name for her next album already picked out, presumably, and she even let her mom know what it is.

Maybe we can set up some sort of Lorde Vacation Fund™️ for 2016 and stipulate that if we reach a certain goal -- say, $50,000? -- she has to DM us the title, too. Seems only fair, right?
