Activists Projected Endangered Species On The Walls Of The Vatican — Check Out The Pics
Activists (including the filmmakers behind the new environmentalist documentary "Racing Extinction") teamed up with the Vatican for a light show on Tuesday (Dec. 8) featuring some of the planet's endangered species in a somber, touching tribute.
The backdrop? The iconic walls of St. Peter's Basilica.
The show, “Fiat Lux: Illuminating Our Common Home,” was inspired by Pope Francis' own words earlier this year about the importance of maintaining the planet.
Though this show was created as gift for Pope's Extraordinary Jubilee Of Mercy and to coincide with the COP21 climate talks in Paris, the team behind it projected animal faces onto the exteriors of the Empire State Building and the United Nation’s building earlier this year for the same underlying reason -- to give people a glimpse at some of the beautiful species we stand to lose due to human damage to the planet, and, the hope is, to urge them to take action.
