Books
Legendary Comics' "Pacific Rim": Tales From Year Zero
The best way to prepare for the launch of the film is to read the backstory that can only be found in this prequel graphic novel, which was written by Travis Beacham, who is also the screenwriter for the film and supervised by Guillermo del Toro. The book reveals the backstory of key characters from the film including Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi). Additionally, readers will see the first attack by the incredible monsters known as Kaiju and the tumultuous evolution of the Jaegers - massive robot fighting machines created by the humans to battle the Kaiju.
Divided into three sections, the 112-page narrative begins in 2013, chronicling the very first time Earth is menaced by Kaiju - inhuman beasts that rise from the ocean depths and threaten to extinguish all mankind! Following the Kaiju invasion, the race begins to develop the Jaegers, each one controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. Included among the fascinating reveals are why the Jaeger’s need two people to control them, the first Kaiju vs. Jaeger battle, how Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba)saved the Jaeger program and the origin of the special bond with Mako, and much more.

Yukes Co. Ltd.'s Digital Downloadable "Pacific Rim" Video Game
The Pacific Rim video game is a digital downloadable title to be released on the Xbox LIVE that recreates the strikingly realistic mega-scale battles between Jaegers and Kaiju depicted in the "Pacific Rim" film. The character models to appear in the game were created from the same model data used in the film, allowing the Jaegers and Kaiju in the game to remain true to their original forms. Each Jaeger and Kaiju is unique in design, with their own weapons andfighting styles, meaning players will have to alter their tactics to account for the attributes of their character and opponent. This may include using a plasma cannon against a flying opponent, or using speed to your advantage against a bulky giant. The game will feature a variety of battlescapes, from ocean waters to city, and will also contain the breathtaking building destruction seen in the film. Additionally, the game will feature loads of downloadable content including more Kaiju from the film, new battle stages, extra missions and the ability to customize your own Jaeger.
