Jim Henson Company To Make Animated 'Frog and Toad' Movie

This seems appropriate for the company that made an amphibian named Kermit a household name: The Jim Henson Company's next project is a feature-length animated film based on the beloved series of "Frog and Toad" books.  The Caldecott-winning  "Frog and Toad" series of books were created by Arnold Lobel in the 1970s, and chronicled the adventures of two buddies called, simply, "Frog" and "Toad." Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company, commented on the books in a press release:

"Frog and Toad has tremendous value with parents who read these charming stories when they were children and are now sharing them with their own kids. With such high caliber talent on board, the delightful and funny adventures of these two great friends with a nod to the classic ‘buddy movie’ will bring a whole new audience to their big screen debut."

The movie is likely to come out in 2013; Craig Bartlett, best-known for writing "Rugrats" and creating "Hey Arnold" for Nickelodeon, will be writing the movie, and Cory Edwards, of "Hoodwinked!", will direct.
