Channing Tatum's 'Sexy' Accolades Earn Him Good-Natured Grief From Pals

No matter how flattering or impressive it may be to be named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive," the title has its latest honoree, Channing Tatum, feeling a bit bashful, particularly because just before he was announced as the new "Sexiest Man" he was named one of GQ's "Men of the Year," which according to Channing has resulted in a lot of harassment--and not the good kind.

"It's more ammunition for my friends to do stuff to my face on magazines and then send it to me," Channing told MTV News recently during an interview for his new thriller "Side Effects," co-starring Rooney Mara. The "Magic Mike" star explained that he'll receive a bunch of alerts on his phone which he thinks are going to be funny emails from his friends, but the funny is always focused on defacing his sexy photos.

"[My phone alert] goes 'boop,''Oh email! My buddy sent me a cool picture,'" he recalled, pretending to check his phone and find an offensive photo sent by one of his buddies. "Oh that's...that's not nice."

Channing takes it all in stride however, and welcomes his pals' creativity.

"I love it; it's cool," he said, adding that he is still somewhat unsettled by the accolades. "They're huge honors, more than I can possibly ever try to say."

And if anyone deserves the attention, it's Channing. The guy is talented, gracious and so down-to-earth it's disarming. His "Side Effects" co-star heartily agreed with us when we told him that People and GQ couldn't have picked a more deserving and genuine fellow for their awards.

"It's true," Rooney said, which of course made Channing more uncomfortable.
