'City Of Fallen Angels' Jace Spoiler, Straight From Cassie Clare
"The Mortal Instruments" author Cassandra Clare said she's been having a tough time with the embargo on the fourth book in the series, "City of Fallen Angels," which we'll finally all get our hands on this Tuesday. Simon & Schuster has kept the book under "Harry Potter"-level security, while Cassandra is dying to tell her fans all about what's going on with Clary, Jace and Simon in the next installment.
"It's like suddenly being in an episode of 'Alias,'" she lamented to friend and fellow author Holly Black, one of the few people who was allowed to read the book before its release. "I'm not good at all this cloak-and-dagger stuff. I like talking about my books!"
At least, to whet our appetites, she was able to give a spoiler about what's going on with Jace, who seemed about to live happily ever after with Clary at the end of "City of Glass."
"Things are not going well (they never go well) for Mr. Herondale/Lightwood/Morgenstern/Wayland," Cassie said. "At the beginning of the book, things are going very darkly for Jace. He's acting very strangely. He's not calling Clary back, he's not seeing her, he's not showing up for dates. She doesn't know what's going on with him, what's changing. She senses it's something, but it's subtle, and everybody's a bit worried. And finally when they do find out what it is, they don't like it, and I don't think the readers are going to be too happy either. But it's definitely interesting. I like to bring the pain!"
