In case you haven't heard, Lady Gaga really could care less what the critics think. She's 100% devoted to her Little Monsters, which leaves absolutely no room for anyone else's approval. That's the hard-hitting message on her newest single "Applause," which was officially released yesterday. The upbeat tune gave us a tantalizing preview of what ARTPOP will have in store, and we are now more excited than ever. But did you really think Mother Monster would leave her fans with nothing more than an incredible new track? Puh-lease! In her latest promotional display, Lady Gaga hit the town yesterday with her face painted EXACTLY like the cover artwork for "Applause."

Lady Gaga wore two all-black Saint Laurent ensembles yesterday—one for a visit with E! News, the other to a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest—and aside from some platform boots, her painted face was her headlining accessory. She originally chose the smeared makeup look for the single's cover to capture the moment at the end of a show when the performer is vulnerable and longing for the audience's approval. Her bold decision to hit the town with her museum-ready visage yesterday definitely shows how much Lady Gaga wants her fans' approval…like, ALL the time. But if she keeps releasing pitch-perfect singles and keeping us on our toes with promotional stunts like this, we don't think fan approval with be a problem at all. And let's be honest, we already can't wait to see what Gaga will wear when she performs "Applause" at the VMAs in a couple of weeks. Ahhh, August 25, GET HERE ALREADY!

What do you guys think? Will she wear the same face paint, or go for something totally different?
