New 'Driver' Game Coming At E3 From Ubisoft

Ubisoft listed a new installment for the Driver series in their plans for E3 this week. The game has only been referred to officially as an "iteration" at this point, so just exactly what the title will be is anyone's guess. Whatever it's called, the game will have quite a bit of company.

"Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood," "Shaun White Skateboarding," "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier" and "the next iteration of the blockbuster franchise Driver" will all be part of Ubisoft's lineup at the show and visible in some capacity at their booth, according to an announcement quoted by Joystiq.

An Ubisoft press conference hosted by comedian Joel McHale is scheduled for June 14, 2010, where live demonstrations of upcoming titles are expected to take place. Some currently unannounced projects are supposed to be in the program as well, so the list above is by no means exhaustive.

If you were a fan of "Driver: You Are the Wheelman" or "Driver: Parallel Lines" this should be great news, considering the series has been on a bit of a hiatus from consoles recently. Some offshoots for portables and mobile devices have shown up, but this would be the first real sequel for next-gen systems.
