'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' Poster Is Ready For Action

By Alex Zalben

In a bit of unfortunate timing, the same day author Tom Clancy passed away at age 66, the first poster for Kenneth Branagh's reboot of Clancy's most famous character, Jack Ryan has hit the 'nets.

Featuring a moody Chris Pine holding a gun, and what looks like a Russian city or possibly a Christmas tree village in the background, the poster doesn't tell us a whole lot. That said, with the first trailer hitting tomorrow at 7:30pm ET, here's what we're hoping to find out from Mr. Ryan's latest adventure:

Chris Pine As Ryan

This is a brand new, completely rebooted Ryan, different than the one played previously on screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck. In fact, this is the first Jack Ryan movie NOT based on a Clancy book, so we're most curious to see how they channel a character whose claim to fame was, well, being played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck.

Keira Knightley, Back In Action

It's been a while since we've seen Knightley in an action movie, so hopefully she gets to show off her "Domino" and "Pirates" toned muscles.

Kenneth Branagh On, And Off Screen

Branagh isn't just the director of "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," he's also a member... of the cast. Playing the villain. Unlike most hyphenates, Branagh has done some of the best work of his career pulling double duty, so we're excited to see what he brings to the table here.

Pa Kent Is ALIVE

After his close call with a tornado, Pa Kent (okay, Kevin Costner) is back as William Harper, a military liaison of Ryan's who will also see his own spin-off movie, "Without Remorse." That's the name of the spin-off, by the way, not how we're going to review it.

Tom Clancy Tribute?

It's a quick turn-around, but we're hoping Paramount Pictures doesn't just ignore the untimely passing of Clancy when releasing this trailer. Sure, it won't make for a gangbusters trailer, but there's a way to do it tastefully, while still selling the crap out of the movie. We'll see tomorrow...

What are you looking forward toward with "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit?" The movie hits theaters on December 25th, 2013.
