Lady Gaga Explains The Painful Reality Of Her 'AHS: Hotel' Wardrobe

It's no secret that Lady Gaga is willing to -- and often does -- wear anything and everything. From meat dresses to 14,000 feathers all at once, there is no limit to what she's willing to put on, which is true of not only the styles Gaga wears but also the physical weight of the clothes she can wear at once. For instance, as Gaga revealed to E! News, that red "hunting outfit" she wore in her first scenes of "American Horror Story: Hotel" weighed as much as the average first grader.

"That outfit is easily 35-50 pounds," Gaga explained, "and it's got two corsets underneath it, and there's a full body chain that's all diamonds that's, you know, not that comfortable. And then, my hair is back, and there's a net over the face and then a hat, and then a heavy jacket. And then, there's a petticoat underneath the dress, and the gown is made of basically, like, Scarlett O'Hara's curtains -- it's just so heavy."

What happens when you have to use the bathroom in something like that? Well, when nature calls, it calls, and for Gaga, that apparently means staying in costume and peeing with the door open, no matter who's there. Describing the situation, Gaga said her manager, Bobby Campbell, commented, "You're like a contortionist. You just stand there for hours in pain in those outfits and you have no clue when you're on stage and you get off and it just all hits you," which she herself agreed with. Is her ability to transcend physical pain for the sake of fashion part of what makes her a perfect Countess? No doubt.

"It's what I do," she elaborated. "That's my art. And that's what people don't always really know about me. [They think] I'm always putting things on to be provocative or shocking for the sake of it. But actually, it's not that easy to wear all of those things and to do it with poise and precision and to hit your mark every time, for a director. So ["American Horror Story"] is actually really stretching me in a great way. It's like I have to take the things that I'm good at and make them even better, and keep them the same every time but still loose so that [executive producer] Ryan [Murphy] gets something really truly organic from me."

Will that be the heaviest outfit of Gaga's run on "AHS: Hotel"? We'll have to keep watching to see.
