MTV Artist To Watch: Meet Alt-Rock Players Darling Parade + See Them Perform Their Hit Single 'Ghost' Live

Darling Parade MTV Artist To Watch

O Music Award winners Darling Parade are ready for their close-up.

For those of you with really good memories, you might recall alt-rock quartet Darling Parade as the winners of last June's "Make A Band Famous" category at MTV and VH1's O Music Awards. Since then, the Nashville outfit's star really has risen: In addition to performing live at MTV's VMA Week, Darling Parade, which comprises Kristin Kearns, Nate McCoy, Dustin McCoy, and Casey Conrad, can now call themselves an MTV Artist to Watch.

But it's not like Darling Parade weren't already well on their way to fame. The band, who beat out fellow "Make A Band Famous" nominees Chill Moody, The So So Glos, Striking Matches, and Syd Arthur, could probably have hit it big with or without the fan-voted O Music Award (though we're sure it helped. PS. Did you SEE them cover Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield" at the OMAs??).

To give you an idea of Darling Parade's pre-OMA history, in early 2012, the band took off on a national tour with "The Voice" winner Cassadee Pope, Stephen Jerzak, and Justin Young. Later in 2012, they opened for Cherri Bomb and Chevelle at Summerfest 2012, and played shows at Shout Fest 2010, where they opened for Switchfoot, Plumb, and Sixpence None The Richer.

Fast-forward to spring 2013, and the band unveiled their debut LP, Battle Scars and Broken Hearts, thanks in part to help from their fans, who raised a whopping $16,000 to fund the disc. (Now THAT'S what we call a fan army. GO DARLING PARADE STANS. Or should we call you "Darlings"?)

In any case, it's a good thing the band has such a dedicated fan base; now you can listen to the band's best tracks whenever you want, like the bittersweet, Paramore-esque anthem "Ghost," "Crash & Burn," or "Coming Undone."

So, what's next for Darling Parade? (Aside from their recent Hive "Artist To Watch" livestream concert?) Well, for one thing, they just released a deluxe edition of Battle Scars & Broken Hearts, featuring the album’s 11 original tracks, plus four song remixes and three acoustic renditions. Get familiar below!
