Nick Jonas Has Gone Through ‘A Lot’ And He’s Going To Reveal It On His Next Album

And he's going to make you dance.

Nick Jonas has two goals with his new single, "Levels": He wants you to "dance" and "have a good time."

The VMA Best Male Video nominee announced that not only is he dropping his new track on August 21, but he will be performing it live for the first time at the "MTV VMA Red Carpet" August 30 at 8:00 pm ET/PT.

Nick gave us a little instrumental taste of the song, with some help from his "moonbabes," as they strutted their stuff down the street.

And chilled in the pool.

"I think that the thing that will surprise people the most about the song is the dance element to it," Nick told us. "With 'Jealous' and even 'Chains' there was an ability to dance to them, but it was very specific. For this one I feel like it's a no-brainer dance, get up and have a good time jam."

Nick, who said he's been "anxiously awaiting the release" of this song, promises it will show off his "fun, energetic side," and that this next album, his follow-up to his 2014 self-titled debut, has him taking it "one step further."

"This is the first single to a new album, which I'm incredibly excited to announce. I've been hard at work on the new music trying to push myself lyrically to say some deeper things," he said. "And I've gone through a lot in this past year and a half and I want to talk about it and just push myself as an artist and continue to grow."
