We Checked In To The 'American Horror Story: Hotel': See The Pics

The hotel is open for business at San Diego Comic-Con.

Unfortunately, most of planet earth will have to wait until October to see Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, and the rest of the "American Horror Story" squad scare the sh-t out of us with their latest spooky outing, "Hotel." But for those of us lucky enough to attend San Diego Comic-Con, the thrills and chills begin right... now.

FX got the party started early with a two-story model hotel at SDCC, an activation that gives visitors a taste of the old Hollywood era that the show will be set in. MTV News dared to enter the hotel on Thursday (July 9), and lucky for us, instead of facing ghosts or demons we were showered with money -- literally.

Upon entering the hotel -- which is modeled in the art deco style of the 1920s, '30s, and '40s, in what is likely a hint about the upcoming season -- SDCC guests are greeted by a smiling staff of hotel bellhops:

... And after that is when the good stuff starts. Eight visitors at a time are pulled into various rooms and given a black bag. After everyone is settled, money literally starts flying at you from all angles -- and since the rooms face SDCC, onlookers can look at you (and laugh at you, in our case) while you frantically try to grab the (sadly fake) cash.

When all is said and done, the trusty bellhops count your cash -- and the winner nabs a $100 gift card! MTV News did not win, but we did nab a nifty "AHS Hotel" keychain, and were entered into a sweepstakes to win a trip to a luxury hotel in Los Angeles or New York City.

FX also has activations for "The Strain," "Fargo," "The Bastard Executioner" and more next to "AHS," so be sure to check on in for some major fun!
