Russell Wilson - who's dating Ciara - has revealed some surprising, very personal news. The NFL quarterback and his pop star girlfriend are practicing celibacy.

Why? The Seahawks player discussed the reasoning in a video that was released through his YouTube channel on Sunday (Jul. 5).

"I was looking at her in the mirror," Wilson explained. "She was sitting there and God spoke to me. He said, 'I need you to lead her.’ He said, ‘No, I want you, and need you to lead her.'"

So, Wilson offered this proposition to Ciara.

"I told her, 'What would you do if we took all that 'extra stuff' off the table, and just did it Jesus' way?’" he said before clarifying what the "extra stuff" meant. "We’re talking about sex."

Ciara agreed to practice celibacy, but that doesn't mean it's been an easy task.

"I ain't gonna lie to y'all now," he said. "I need you to pray for us. I know y'all have seen her on the screen. If there's a 10, she's a 15. So, I need y’all to pray for me.”

This isn't Ciara's first high-profile relationship. Last year, the singer reportedly called off her engagement to Future. They have a child together, an adorable little boy who was named after his dad.
