The Title And First Pic For 'Star Trek 3' Are 'Beyond'

Time for the Starfleet to suit up again!

If you wagered any money on the official "Star Trek 3" film title, you might have just won some cash tonight. Because, as most expected, the film will indeed be called "Star Trek Beyond," which director Justin Lin confirmed Monday (June 29) evening via Twitter.

"Let the next Starfleet voyage begin! #StarTrekBeyond #LLAP" the helmer tweeted, attaching a super-zoomed image of the team's uniform delta shield emblem.

Couple of things to note about this tweet:

1. First of all, we're going to go ahead and assume that's "Star Trek Beyond," sans any colon punctuation like last time -- because that wasn't just a J.J. Abrams thing, was it?

2. Also, that patch reads "Starfleet: United Federation of Planets," which means the "Beyond" part might just refer to the Enterprise's next ... enterprise.

3. The #LLAP bit is totally an ode to Spock -- and possibly Leonard Nimoy himself who did indeed Live Long And Prosper, as he so often greeted.

4. This is the first official glimpse at production on "Star Trek Beyond," but actor Zachary Quinto has been proudly sporting his Vulcan brow pics for days now.

"Star Trek Beyond" will hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
