Melissa McCarthy Blasts Malls For Segregating Against Plus-Size Women

'People don't stop at size 12.'

The uproariously hilarious and mega-talented Melissa McCarthy has just given us yet another reason to adore the heck out of her: She recently stepped up for all the plus-sized women out there by making it her mission to give them fun shopping experiences.

The “Spy" actress is gearing up to launch her own fashion line in August, which will feature pieces in sizes 4 to 28 because “people don’t stop at size 12,” she told More magazine.

"There is just this weird thing about how we perceive women in this country," she said. "I would love to be a part of breaking that down."

McCarthy went on to call out malls for segregating against plus-size shoppers and insisting that everyone deserves to feel amazing when buying new clothes.

"I feel like there's a big thing missing where you can't dress to your mood above a certain number,” McCarthy said. “[Malls] segregate plus-size [women]. It's an odd thing that you can't go shopping with your friends because your store is upstairs hidden by the tire section. ‘We'll put you gals over there because we don't want to see you and you probably don't want to be seen.’”

Besides being a style idol in her own right — she’s proven her killer fashion sense on the red carpet time after time again — McCarthy says she hopes her new business venture will also make her a role model for young girls, including her two daughters.

"When I told my daughters there had never been a female president, they were like, 'What! How is that possible?' I have an overactive sense of justice,” she said. “I want women to realize you don't have to work for the company. You can run the company. I want the scope for them to be endless.”

With badass, body positive women like McCarthy leading the charge, hopefully those injustices will be laid to rest once and for all.
