For most ordinary citizens, this will be a day to be celebrated. It's one day away from a Friday, after all, and it's also Mark Zuckerberg's 30th birthday and the 219th anniversary of the smallpox vaccine (thanks, Google). But to "The Vampire Diaries" fans, May 14 will be a day of mourning for Nina Dobrev, who will depart the show after six glorious seasons of playing Elena Gilbert.

The CW has officially released some pictures from the episode, "I'm Thinking of You All The While," and it definitely looks like everyone in Mystic Falls is as bummed about Elena's departure as we are. She already took the cure for vampirism in last Thursday's episode, but based on Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Caroline (Candice Accola), Bonnie (Kat Graham), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and the rest of the gang's facial expressions, the episode will be an hour-long montage of puppy murder instead of a celebration of Elena's brand new life.

Interestingly enough, Dobrev herself is absent from all of the photos that The CW released -- so in lieu of a leading lady, here are some things that we think might be going on in these photos:

Caroline and Bonnie realize that Destiel will probably never be canon.

"But... but... the subtext," Caroline cries in Bonnie's arms.

Tyler, Alaric, Matt, Damon and Stefan ponder a 1D without Zayn.

... There was just something missing without the whole gang actually filming together, you know?
