Charli XCX And Bleachers’ Joint Tour Is A Musical Match Made In Heaven

MTV & VH1 present the Charli and Jack Do America Tour.

As if you needed one more excuse to start hardcore craving summer, Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff’s band Bleachers have announced a co-headlining tour that sounds like the stuff dreams are made of.

MTV & VH1 Presents: Charli and Jack Do America Tour, kicks off July 21 in San Diego, with BØRNS as support, and runs through a total of 14 cities, ending Aug. 12 in Columbus, Ohio. The second leg of the tour, which features opener Robert DeLong, picks back up for the second leg on September 14 in Boston, Massachusetts and wraps up October 10 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“I've done a lot with MTV and VH1 over the past few years and they've been such amazing supporters of my work," Jack said in a statement. "Everyone over there is super interested in finding bizarre and creative ideas around anything we've ever done. I just love that. I couldn't be more thrilled to have them be a part of this tour."

While Jack takes care of the creative and bizarre, Charli says she's got the embarrassing moments down.

"Cannot wait to go on the 'Charli and Jack Do America Tour' and do loads of embarrassing stuff in front of MTV & VH1 yaaaay," Charli said. "See you on the road angels!!"

These two on the road together TOTALLY makes sense, and we know that they will be phenomenal tourmates. After all, they have a similar enough sound and attitude to draw the same kind of fans, but they’re different enough to avoid redundancy. Here are all the reasons why we think the duo’s summer tour is the perfect match-up.

Colorful pop music for all!

Bleachers have ‘80s pop-rock down pat, serving up anthemic, hooky and electronically-textured jams. Charli does the same kind of thing, but with a splash of punk edge and a whole lot of sass. On top of all that, the tour will also feature synth-pop act BØRNS as an opener. Taylor Swift already gave his song “Electric Love” her kiss of approval, so you KNOW it’ll only add another amazing element to the summer run.

Their style is similarly amazing.

From his trademark jorts to her zebra-printed jumpsuit at the 2015 Movie Awards, Jack and Charli are both known for their quirky and retro style. It’s safe to say they’ll encourage each other’s outlandish outfits — and who knows, maybe they’ll even raid each other’s closets for inspiration!

There'll be a TON of dancing.

Bleachers are definitely one of the most rousing bands you’ll see live — their energy is crazy-infectious. And Charli pretty much does what the f—k she wants onstage, making it practically impossible to tear your eyes away from her. Both of them are bound to deliver highly danceable sets.

But they also know how to get serious.

Charli and Jack are also both brilliant songwriters whose lyricism cuts deep. They know how to pour universal emotions into their songs, and the meaningfulness of their words only becomes more powerful when performed live.

They’re already proven collaborators.

The duo previously appeared together on Complex’s In-Ride Sessions, where they took jabs at each other’s songs (she covered “Rollercoaster” and he did “Break the Rules”). Touring together would offer even more opportunities to cover each other’s work or even to share the stage together (fingers crossed!).

Just look at the poster!

Honestly, this “Yellow Submarine”-esque tour poster is an incredible work of art and deserves a place on your bedroom wall. We’re sold.
