What Made Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna And Nicki Minaj Switch To The Same Twitter Avatars?

They're feeling blue,

The tide is about to shift, and music history is about to be made.

At least, that's according to some of your favorite artists.

At the strike of midnight of Monday morning (Mar. 30), everyone from Beyoncé and Kanye West to Rihanna and Nicki Minaj to Calvin Harris and Usher changed their Twitter avatars to a blank aqua blue, and posted about "#TIDALforALL."

That hashtag and aesthetic change is in support of Jay Z and his recently acquired music streaming service Tidal.

According to a press release, Hov is set to make an announcement about the service today at 5 p.m. It will be streamed live online.

Jay's wife, Beyonce, who hasn't tweeted since 2013, changed her avatar.

TechCrunch is reporting that one of the announcements at the event may be that Tidal has worked out a deal where, for certain releases, they have access to streams before competitors like Spotify and Beats Music.

Jay acquired the Swedish company -- which costs $19.99 per month and brands itself as "high fidelity music streaming" -- for a reported $54 million earlier this month, according to The Guardian.
