Will 'Zoolander 2' Have A Kanye Cameo? Ben Stiller Weighs In

Ye or nay?

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Can you read minds? If so, stare deeply into the soul of Ben Stiller as MTV's Josh Horowitz asks him about one of the biggest "Zoolander 2" rumors floating around right now: Is Kanye West going to pop up in the movie?

For his part, the "While We're Young" star indicates that there's nothing more to the Kanye cameo than rumor, but his wording leaves things open to interpretation: "I've heard that, too … I'm interested, because a lot of people have been asking me about that."

That's not an outright no, is it? Not that you can blame Stiller for being cagey. He made it clear that he doesn't want to reveal too much about the story or the cameos because he wants viewers to find everything out for themselves — and that's not such an outrageous desire, considering just how long it's taken to get the "Zoolander" sequel off the ground.

"It was a lot of different things over the years," he said. "We had a script back in 2005. We couldn't get the cast together at that point. We scrapped the idea and came up with a new one back in 2010. Every few years, it would come up. And then the budget would be an issue."

So, what changed this time? Why is it that the sequel is finally moving forward, 15 years after the first film walked the runway?

"It was just a confluence of events of the studio and the actors and I guess myself, everyone coming to the point where we were like, 'This would be fun,'" he said. "And now we've had a process with the script to get to a place where it's thought out and the best possible version of it."

With or without Kanye, "Zoolander 2" will be upon us on February 12, 2016, less than a year away. "While We're Young" is in theaters March 27.
