Best Coast seriously has our back. They knew we were currently languishing in the icy grip of winter, so they warmed the tiniest corners of our hearts Wednesday (Feb. 18) with a steamy teaser for their hotly anticipated third record, California Nights.

The tease contains a snippet of what we're assuming is the album's title track, a poppy, soaring jam that seems to be a kind of richer evolution of the dreamy, ethereal tracks on 2010's Crazy For You and 2012's The Only Place. Oh, and most importantly, it also features Snacks The Cat, lead singer Bethany Cosentino's de facto spirit animal.

The band elaborated on the album's release a bit in the YouTube description, revealing that it will drop on May 5 and that the band plans to kick off promotions in California (of course) with a few small shows, the first being in Los Angeles at The Echo on Thursday Feb. 19.

We hope Snacks will make an appearance there as well.
