EXCLUSIVE: Backstreet Boys Discuss Their Early Relationship With Imprisoned Boy Band Creator Lou Pearlman

BSB get real in their 'Show 'Em What You're Made Of' documentary.

The Backstreet Boys are about to show us what they're made of.

Backstreet Boys are releasing a documentary, titled "Backstreet Boys: Show Em' What You're Made Of," which chronicles what life's like now for one of the most successful and popular boy bands in music history.

It showcases the group's highs and the lows as they record a new album, and it also takes us back to the beginning when they were just five unknowns assembled by Lou Pearlman.

MTV News has an exclusive clip from the film, which will be released Friday, Jan. 30. In it, AJ McLean, the "original old-school Backstreet Boy," reveals how Lou, who went on to form *NSYNC and managed O-Town, LFO and Take 5, became part of their lives back in 1992.

"Lou had seen the success of Boyz II Men, Jodeci, New Kids on the Block and I think once that got in the back of his head, he's like I can do this, I can put together a group," AJ said. "Five pretty faces that can sing and dance -- and that's exactly what he did."

As a die-hard BSB fan, it's interesting to see the guys talk about their relationship and eventual downfall with Pearlman, who's currently serving a 25-year prison sentence for conducting one of the largest Ponzi schemes in American history.

In the film, you'll see Nick, Kevin, AJ, Brian and Howie each reflect on their time with Lou, plus discuss their lawsuit against Pearlman, who they claim was not truthful about about their earnings.

But for right now, make sure you check out this clip because Backstreet's back.
