Could Tyrese Gibson Be The Next Green Lantern?

The singer-turned-actor's campaigning hard for the role on social media.

If seeing is believing, then Tyrese Gibson might just have it made.

The 36-year-old singer-turned-actor has launched a social media campaign to land the coveted role of Green Lantern in the upcoming DC Comics film, “Justice League Part One,” and the standalone “Green Lantern.”

Gibson, known for his roles in the action-packed “Fast & Furious” and “Transformers” franchises, took to Instagram to post a series of Photoshopped images of himself wearing the superhero’s glowing, green suit.

"I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure," he wrote in one of the captions before quoting Green Lantern's signature line, "In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!”

We have no input as to whether or not Tyrese will get the role, but he certainly looks like he’d make a great John Stewart. For those who don’t know, Stewart, DC’s first black superhero, took over the powers of the ring after Hal Jordan. Ryan Reynolds played the Green Lantern Corps’ Jordan in the 2011 "Green Lantern" film.

Idris Elba was rumored to be the frontrunner to play Stewart, but that may prove difficult as he's still contracted to remain in the Marvel Universe until at least 2017 with the release of "Thor 3."

Besides, we're more excited about the possibility of Elba taking over the role of James Bond.

All things considered, Tyrese has plenty of time to make his case because "Justice League" is scheduled for release by Warner Bros. in 2017 and "Green Lantern" is set for 2020.
