After 'Star Wars,' Here's Why George Lucas Is Still Making New Movies

Fun!

With reporting by Alex Zalben

George Lucas has already assured his place in the annals of cinema history. Remember "Star Wars?" Yeah, so does everyone else...for the rest of time.

Considering that, it's impressive that the director uses energy to continue creating, most recently with this weekend's "Strange Magic," an animated musical. MTV News caught up with Lucas at a press day ahead of the film's release to find out what drives him creatively.

The answer, it turned out, is simple.

"I just wanted to have fun," Lucas said. "I wanted to make a movie that I enjoyed making."

He wanted to try some new concepts he'd been batting around, just to see if he could pull it off. "It was just partly a challenge I made myself and partly because I thought it would be a lot of fun to do," he said.

Find out more, including who Lucas made the movie specifically for, in the clip above.

"Strange Magic" is in theaters now.
