Is Oscar Isaac Wearing A Prosthetic Robot Head For 'X-Men: Apocalypse'?

The actor says that his costume will have 'robotic technology.'

We'll have to wait awhile yet to see what Oscar Isaac looks like as the titular villain of "X-Men: Apocalypse," but what we do know so far about the actor's transformation is awfully titillating.

For one thing, you can cross the possibility of a fully CGI motion-capture performance off the list. In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, Isaac revealed that while digital effects were definitely happening, he will be putting on some sort of actual outfit to play the hulking mutant, who is generally depicted as a muscular giant with grey skin, glowing eyes, high-tech body armor, and a rubbery-looking blue mouth set in a perpetual grimace.

"It’ll be a mix," the actor said. "I haven’t had a script so I haven’t had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it’ll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology."

Isaac also revealed that he was on his way to an "Apocalypse" costume fitting that very day, saying, "After we finish here I’m heading to do a head cast, which they do often. You spend 3-4 hours with them putting plaster all over your head and they get a sense of what your face is like and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun."

In this case, a head cast probably means major facial prosthetics -- which combined with the mention of "robotic technology" makes this sound like one super-involved supervillain getup.

Considering the track record for practical effects of the previous "X-Men" films (see: Jennifer Lawrence's full-body latex transformation into a blue, scaly shapeshifter), and Isaac's own description of his role as "scary, scary s--t," we can't wait to see how it translates onscreen.
