'Girls' Star Andrew Rannels Has Trouble With Handjob Scenes

Rannells' sex scene was the season premiere's second-most awkward.

He might not have had to rig up a vanilla-scented buffering device between his buttcheeks (as Allison Williams did for the freakiest scene from the premiere), but "Girls" star Andrew Rannells had his own sex-scene issues to contend with when it came time to shoot the new season.

Namely: Convincingly miming a handjob is a lot tougher than you might think.

Rannells was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" to discuss his work on the show, where he related this story of giving a scripted wank to a nice young bit actor (who, it just so happened, was also from Omaha, Nebraska! Small world.) Apparently, some miscommunication about how the shot would be framed led to an interesting result in the episode's final cut.

"I, to be respectful, because I'm a gentleman, kept my hand a safe distance from his privates," Rannells said of shooting the scene. "But when I saw it at the premiere, you could see my hand coming up, so it looks like he has a two-foot d--k. It's absurd."
